It's a title that tried to excel in the audiovisual aspect, implement a deep gameplay system and tell a compelling story within the limitations of a handheld platform. That's aiming quite high.
The Flair: F
Faselei's audiovisual facet is simply jaw-dropping. It features an amazing original soundtrack and it's graphics are ridiculously good considering it's a handheld strategy game. If that wasn't enough, the art design of the Toy Soldiers and the characters is equally flawless.
The Feel: F
Sacnoth managed to implement an exquisite gameplay formula that's able to recruit even the greatest detractors of this genre. As a player, you feel like a powerful asset on the battlefield and a clever engineer outside while assembling your mech. It's fun, addictive and incredibly satisfying while also remarkably deep.
The Fuel: D
The story has a lot of presence and it's quite compelling, although a bit complex. The characters are well written and, in general, the story complements the gameplay greatly. However, the level design, the enemy variety and the thirteen levels of the campaign in general feel slightly unimaginative, and the feeling increases towards the end. Don't get me wrong, they are of excellent quality, but the rest of the game is so perfect that the contrast is more present here.

Conclusions
Faselei is a beautiful masterpiece of gaming that is really one of its own kind. The excellence of its graphics and art style, its fantastic original soundtrack and its addictively fun and deep gameplay really are flawless and it goes to show how handheld titles can also be deep and beautiful. If the NGPC had anything like a system seller, this would definitely be it. It's that good.
