To be honest, by the time Banshee was released, the shoot 'em up genre was already well established, and it didn't introduce any new concepts or mechanics. That being said, there certainly is ambition in the shape of the title rather than its content
The Flair: E
Arcade-tier visuals meet amazing sound effects, creating the exact kind of atmosphere shoot 'em ups ask for: frantic, over-the-top, and full of adrenaline. Simply excellent.
The Feel: D
Pretty standard gameplay, but very well executed. The difficulty is well adjusted to provide a very challenging but also forgiving experience at times, letting you improve your way to the final stages of the game.
The Fuel: B
Solid level design with a great variety of enemies and bosses, all of them very unique and fun to battle against. However, we missed more variety in power-ups, which we all know are the juicy part of this genre.

Conclusions
Banshee delivered what it aimed to: a frantic, challenging, and very, very fun experience that sucks you in from the very second you grab the controller. A bit more variety and boldness in the power-ups could have made it even better, but it's still a really great title and one of the best Commodore Amiga exclusives.
